Custom Paintings on Silk

This 30 x 30 painting of East Corinth village was commishioned by the East Corinth Congregational Church for their departing pastor of nine  years. I was given this photo by one of the church members to paint as a gift for the minister.

A woman commishioned this painting of her parents home in Galveston Texas as a gift for them. She sent me about 8 photos of the house from all different angles and I chose the one above to paint.

Silk paintings have their own unique style; there is no other medium that can produce the same results. My style of painting is whimsical and joyful. I use bright colors and primitive organic gestures. Please review the samples below before ordering your custom painting so that you are familiar with my style. As you can see I do not do photo realism each painting has a photo next to it that was the inspiration for the image I work with the dyes and resists to express the feelings that those photos evoke in me. Please feel free to visit any of the galleries that represent my work to see my paintings in person before ordering your custom work of art.
Each painting is carefully mounted onto matt board backed with foam core. Only the finest archival materials are used. Linda's husband custom builds the wooden frames by hand and paints each frame navy blue.
These paintings make unforgettable gifts that will not only be treasured but will become family heirlooms passed down from one generation to the next.
Renovated old mill building in Bradford VT. I took some photos and did this painting after one of my Gallery's in Bradford asked me to do some paintings of some local historical landmarks.
This painting is of two of my Granddaughters playing in the rain. I couldn't resit painting them with their big bright umbrellas.
Rockers on the porch of the Grafton Inn. Don and I drove over to Grafton and took many photos but we chose this one to do the painting of because of the blissful sense of serenity it seemed to evoke.
I was asked by one of my gallery's to participate in an art/writing collaboration between Vermont artists and elementary school students. 35 artists were chosen out of more than 250 artists. There is an essay contest called Farming in Monkton and children write essays about farm life in their area. I was chosen to paint an essay called "The Strawberry Farm". The farm that the essay was written about was the home of William Shattuck, the man whom the contest is in memory of. The gallery manager sent me the photo on the left and my whimsical rendition can be seen below. There was a wonderful reception for the show in Middlebury where the children, the artists and the farmers all gathered and celebrated this wonderful project.
